Beautiful Rowallan Castle Wedding | Wedding Photography | Mia + Keith
If you’re looking to have a wedding celebration that’s a beautifully chilled affair, then you could do worse than taking a leaf or two out of Mia and Keith’s wedding book, at the stunning Rowallan Castle in Ayrshire, Scotland. The couple’s aim was to create a no-stress, fun and relaxed atmosphere where their guests could chill out, and simply enjoy the celebration and company of each other. It represented them as a couple much better than following any wedding trends!
It was a welcome return for me to be working at the beautiful Rowallan Castle (which could more accurately be called Rowallan 2 Castles!), one of my favourite wedding venues in Ayrshire. The beautiful views, both inside and outside of the venues mean that there is an abundance of both natural and indoor backdrops for me to work my magic on! From the spacious bridal suite to the elegant staircases to the classically subtle ceremony room (all adorned spectacularly by the beautiful work of Lynsey at She Bloomin Gathered floristry). The grounds encompass a championship Colin Montgomerie golf course, which was pretty handy for Mia’s dad who is rather a fan of the game! :-)
In keeping with Mia and Keith’s desire to keep the proceedings ‘low-key’, during the ceremony the couple presented each other with ‘silent vows’ This is something I haven’t encountered before and it was pretty neat - all you can see are the reactions of the couple as they read for the first time what they have written in secret to each other, whilst you try to gauge their reactions to imagine what has been written! I know Mia was trying very hard to wring some tears out of Keith, but alas…he’s a pretty stoic guy! ;-D If you also look closely under Mia’s bouquet, it was accompanied by a compass. I believe it was a little in-joke between the couple, but I forgot to ask what it was all about - a mystery!
After the ceremony, the crowd settled in to an evening of banter, beautiful scenery and booze, with the youngsters in attendance keeping us all entertained! We also took a short wander around the beautiful grounds and ‘Old Castle’, having a bit of fun and making some natural, yet creative images along the way. I mean, I say a short wander, it was actually a rocket powered golf buggy ride, with me hanging off the back for some of the way, but I’ll save that video for you to laugh at on my social media pages ;-D
As you can see from the photographs, the wedding was just the correct mix of fun, emotional moments, quality time with friends and family who don’t always get to see each other together, and more fun. And it was very much a pleasure to be invited to blend in with the crowd and make some beautiful photographs. There will also shortly be a highlight film of the day too, so keep your eyes out! As the wedding day was only the first of 2 days spent at the castle, I reckon the fun very much continued throughout the whole weekend…
Congratulations guys!
