Drumtochty Castle | Beautiful Autumn Wedding Photography | Libia & Corey
When you travel all the way from Florida to the UK you’d better make sure it’s worth your while, right? How about eloping to a beautiful Scottish castle in the countryside with your closest friends and family to experience some local ways and stunning scenery? That oughtta do it :-)
Libia & Corey sure made the most of it too, touring parts of the UK and Scotland for the few weeks they were here. The events continued even up until the wedding day - when I arrived on site before the ceremony, the hills echoed with the sound of gunshots from the clay pigeon shooting that Corey and the boys were enjoying on the castle grounds. It’s always fun to catch some of the surrounding festivities of the day so I followed the sound of the gunshots to capture a little footage there. It is however, also fun not to get shot, so I’m pleased that I managed this as well ;-)
As contrasted with the explosive activities of the guys’ morning prep, the bridal preparations were positively sedate; a little music, good company and the faint sense of some impending wedding nerves! I’m just kidding; if Libia was nervous at all, it really didn’t show. In fact the whole day was a beautiful exercise in how to run a relaxed and stress-free wedding celebration, having a great time with your guests and soaking up the surroundings. I mean, don’t get me wrong, there were of course, emotional tears…and that’s what I’m there for (to capture them, not to cause them!) ;-)
Drumtochty Castle itself is the perfect location for a Scottish wedding; nestled in the hills of Auchenblae, Aberdeenshire, you’d never know it was there. But upon discovering the castle, its charm and grandeur are hard to ignore. The building is beautifully ornate, offering that quintessential ‘Scottish’ feel and giving us plenty of photographic scope in the event that the weather is grim! However, if you are able to sample the grounds themselves, they are stunning. Rustic statues, staircases, a tranquil pond, acres of land and the accompanying wildlife!
For Libia and Corey’s wedding we were lucky enough to be able to have the ceremony outside in front of the Castle. The beautiful verdant hills on display with the sun streaming through the valley made the occasion visually spectacular. During the morning clay pigeon shooting, Corey was joking that the missing luggage of one of the guests, which was due to be delivered later that day, would end up arriving right in the middle of the ceremony. Lo and behold, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of the ceremony, the peaceful proceedings were cheekily interrupted by a wee white van which trundled up the castle to deliver…and Amazon package ;-D Certainly made for a few laughs!
The rest of the day mirrored the warmth and good humour of the ceremony - good vibes, picking confetti from our persons, a short jaunt to Cairn o’ Mount and a whole lotta fun dancing. I’ll let the photographs describe the rest :-)
And don’t forget to check out their Highlight Film HERE. It’s a stunner :-)
Congratulations guys!
