Botanic Gardens West End Glasgow Wedding | Wedding Photography | Rhona + David
If you follow me at all, you’ll probably know that I really enjoy a wedding with a relaxed vibe. I also really dig a lively and verdant backdrop; woods/ plant life/ animals et, etc, that gives me something to get my teeth into. So I was downright over the moon when Rhona and David contacted me to say that they would be marrying in the luscious Glasgow Botanic Gardens, Kibble Palace, and that plant life was a particular fondness of theirs. I hasten to add, they were also one of THE most relaxed and fun couples to shoot - this wedding was MADE for me ;-D
With the wedding being a twilight wedding technically, we made some time a little earlier in the day to get the couple shoot out of the way so that we could just enjoy the rest of the day uninterrupted. It gave us a chance to ease into the proceedings in a nice relaxed manner whilst being able to wander around and sample everything that the gardens have to offer. In fact, when I arrived and met Rhona, on the walk to the gardens we were so engrossed in the chit-chat and wedding related bants that we totally forgot to pick up David on the way! ;-D It was just as well that we did go back to pick him up because part of the function of the couple shoot for Rhona was to refine the finer points of the wedding dance. Cue lots of spinning and boogying in the deep undergrowth of the park, which was not only very much enjoyed by myself, but also the odd passer by too. Excellent photography fodder :-) it turns out that Rhona also has a fondness for Glasgow busses so as a spur of the moment decision we managed to time a couple of passing busses to perfection!
The remainder of the day was just as fun as the start with friends and family enjoying the delights of the Kibble Palace (these include light, shelter and heating, which are all very welcome advantages for the jobbing photographer!), making a very unique, versatile and interesting venue for a wedding. Fish too…it has some really cool looking fish :-) It also appears as though they have a naked statue of Hugh Grant on display with a monkey on his lap that I haven’t noticed before. Wasn’t expecting that! ;-D
Well, the ceremony was sealed with, not a kiss, but a perfectly executed high five and then we hit the evening reception over at the Grosvenor West End for food. speeches and dancing. The perfect roundoff to an awesome day.
Congratulations guys! :-)
