Royal Botanic Gardens Wedding Edinburgh | Beautiful Autumn Wedding Photography | Stephanie + Scott

Having met Stephanie and Scott for their pre-wedding photography session at the beautiful Tyninghame Beach in East Lothian, I already knew their wedding would be ace. Nature and beach lovers, the timing of the wedding was no coincidence - we we’re looking for the full force of Autumn magic, and The Royal Botanic Gardens brought its A-game! A rustic, autumnal celebration with nods to Lord of the Rings, Marvel, and a touch of Halloween spookiness. THAT, is the kind of party I’d like an invite to!

Stephanie grew up near the Royal Botanic Gardens, visiting often, and it became her happy place. In her own words: “…wanted to share this special place with my special guy and it soon became a regular haunt for us when we lived in Edinburgh. We spent most weekends visiting the gardens, feeding the squirrels, watching the world go by. It was our top choice of venue for that reason and plus we wanted an outdoor ceremony! Where better than under a cluster of giant Redwoods!”

And she was right - the timing was perfect, we were at PEAK autumn beauty with splashes of colour everywhere. Burnt orange, dark green, burgundy, shades of red and bright yellow all over the shop, complimenting the chosen wedding colour palette perfectly. It’s an Edinburgh wedding venue that I hadn’t yet visited, but is now firmly on my wish list. Steph's custom-made dress, the design of which she was closely involved in, was inspired by Elven elegance from Lord of the Rings. It was a warm champagne dream with botanical lace and matching hairpiece and jewellery. Underneath she was rocking custom Converse because she had one eye firmly fixed on not falling over - as I learned from the ceremony, she has previous for :-) Scott was looking equally resplendent in a trendy burgundy suit, burnt orange bow tie, and tan brogues. I mean, I’m no fashion expert, but, yeah…pretty sharp!

The ceremony itself was a beautiful, and heartfelt affair. Outdoors, in the middle of the leafy autumnal surroundings, I learned that the two first connected when Stephanie called for some I.T. support and Scott answered the call. Incredibly, the two made a connection and romance quickly blossomed. This is honestly the opposite of my own experiences with I.T. support so well done you guys! ;-)

I did have to laugh to myself when Stephanie produced a bag of nuts from her wedding dress and showed them to me. As I was mentally commending her for bringing emergency food supplies (wedding days can be loooong affairs) she went on to explain that they were to feed the (many!) local squirrels :-) So we duly set off on a quick jaunt around the beautiful grounds of the Gardens, scouting squirrels, chatting and making the most of the beautiful natural backdrops.

Stephanie and Scott were careful to make the wedding a true reflection of their personalities and interests as a couple. On top of the superhero and Lord of the Rings touches - the entry music for the ceremony and meals were epic - the evening celebrations were coloured by their love of Halloween spookiness. Pumpkins, spiderwebs, witches hats. I truly love a Hallowe’en wedding! Not only that, but the couples entrance music to the first dance was the Star Wars theme, through which they walked under a light sabre archway, provided by the wedding guests. Down right awesome :-)

May your marriage be as epic as a Middle Earth adventure and as enduring as a Marvel superhero's legacy. Well done, guys :-)
